The Weeknd Announces New Album

R&B crooner The Weeknd has announced that he’ll be releasing a surprise album tonight. Yes, you read that right. His latest album will be titled My Dear Melancholy.

The Weeknd began teasing this new album with cryptic Instagram posts, and on Tuesday he dropped the biggest hint thus far with a screenshot of a text message with his friend and creative director La Mar.

This opened the door to speculation as to what he was dropping. The next biggest sign was a billboard that popped up in London today and quickly made its way to social media.

Finally, after all the speculation, The Weeknd made an official announcement and shared the album name and cover.

This will mark his 4th album and will be his latest full length project since his wildly successful album Starboy, which was released in 2016.

We’ll have to listen to see where he’s at creatively. Like everyone else, I’m excited for this album.

UPDATE: The project was made available as of 11 pm Eastern. It consists of 6 songs and appears to be more of an EP than an album. What are your thoughts on My Dear Melancholy, so far?
